Grants from Donor Advised Funds

As a 501c3 charitable organization, Project Focus can accept donations from donor advised funds.

What is a Donor-Advised Fund?

A donor-advised fund is like a charitable investment account, for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations you care about.

When you contribute cash, securities or other assets to a donor-advised fund at a public charity, like Fidelity Charitable, Vanguard or Schwab, you are generally eligible to take an immediate tax deduction. Then those funds can be invested for tax-free growth and you can recommend grants to virtually any IRS-qualified public charity.

When you give, you want your charitable donations to be as effective as possible. Donor-advised funds are the fastest-growing charitable giving vehicle in the United States because they are one of the easiest and most tax-advantageous ways to give to charity.

Gifts from your IRA

If you are 70½ or older, you can use your IRA to fulfill your charitable goals. You can use the “Make a Gift From My IRA” tool to contact your IRA custodian and make a qualified charitable distribution. More on gifts of stocks and bonds

There are special rules for valuing a gift of stock. The value of a charitable gift of stock is determined by taking the mean between the high and low stock price on the date of the gift. Mutual fund shares are valued using the closing price for the fund on the date of the gift.
